Kooks Custom Headers hosted the NCMA Mixer on Tuesday, June 26, at its Statesville, N.C., headquarters. Attendees were greeted plethora of race cars all sporting Kooks outstanding products including Doug Herbert’s B.R.A.K.E.S. Top Fuel dragster, a U.S. Legends Car Dirt Modified and an asphalt modified.
The more than 50 attendees were treated to a tour of the facility and some good eats. In addition, a panel discussion on the business of short-track racing was held. Jeff Clark of RoushYates engine shop (short-track engines); Clint Elkins, promoter of Carolinas Speedway and co-owner of the CARS trade show; Gray Garrison, Bowman Gray promoter, and Tim Southers of NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Series made up the panel
The discussion ranged from community involvement of promoters, to track and team sponsorships, to the best use of social media – mostly Facebook and Twitter — to promote interest in short-track racing, and how to attract new fans.
Door prizes included tickets to both Carolinas Speedway (courtesy of Clint Elkins) and zMAX Dragway (courtesy of SMI), two copies of National Speedway Directory and a copy of America’s Speedways Past and Present (courtesy of Tim Frost), and a SunTrust gift card donated by SunTrust Bank.
