CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  RK Motors Charlotte, America’s leading retailer of investment-grade classic, collector and high performance cars, has announced the newest addition to its state-of-the-art, 250-vehicle showroom in Charlotte, N.C. – an ultra-rare, fully documented, 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda. Not only does this all-original, survivor Mopar display a mere 2,010 miles on its odometer, it’s also the highest option HEMI ‘Cuda known to exist.

“This is the most valuable muscle car that we’ve offered to date,” said Joe Carroll, RK Motors CEO and president. “It’s a beautiful, time-capsule that’s untouched with the lowest mileage ever documented on a HEMI ‘Cuda. It could serve as a reference grade example of the most valuable muscle car of all time. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone to add a rare, low mileage HEMI from the golden age of muscle cars to their stable.”

The Rallye Red on black ‘Cuda was ordered new from Ed Owens Plymouth by RJ Reynolds Tobacco heir Zach Reynolds, and looks just as it did when it rolled off Dodge Main’s assembly line in February 1971. Under the car’s hood, an untouched 426 HEMI, which is original all the way down to its factory fluids, sends power to an original, untouched A727 Torqueflite three-speed transmission. That transmission spins an original, untouched Dana 60 rear end which, in addition to housing an original Sure Grip differential and factory 4:10 gears, still wears a legible factory paper strap.

This ‘Cuda’s drivetrain rides on a heavy duty HEMI suspension that comes complete with a stiff sway bar, specially tuned shocks and original control arms, which still display a thin layer of factory Cosmoline. The car’s body rides on original 15-inch Rallye wheels which wrap original F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around pristine center caps and spotless trim rings.

Inside, a rare split bench and full bench seat combination shows no sign of wear. An original, AM/FM stereo comes complete with a microphone jack and recorder, making this HEMI an advanced road warrior for its time.

Naturally this Plymouth is as impressive outside as it is inside, with an optional Rallye Red multiport grille that holds four 1971-exclusive halogen headlights above a showroom fresh chrome bumper, original chrome road lamps, flush-fitting parking lights and optional wing spoilers. An original black vinyl top adds to the car’s overall menacing persona while original Chrysler dual exhaust tips round out its many details.

The three tag car is the highest optioned HEMI ‘Cuda known to exist and is fully documented from its factory paperwork all the way to its recent magazine features. Some of the many historical items included in the sale of this vehicle are its factory punch card, an original Chrysler broadcast sheet, a copy of Zach Reynold’s original title for the car, Ed Owens original bill of sale and owner’s manual, and a 1985 North Carolina state inspection that shows its big HEMI engine had only racked up 1,928 miles at that time.

“We’re honored to be entrusted to consign such a superb classic,” added Carroll. “It comes completely untouched and with all the proper documentation, which adds to its allure among buyers. It’s as if this HEMI has never been previously owned or driven; it’s in that good of shape. The ‘Cuda will command attention both on the street and as the centerpiece of a collection.”

The HEMI ‘Cuda is being offered at a certified price of $2.5 million through the RK Motors Charlotte Consignment Program. Through RK Motors Charlotte’s transparent reputation, superior marketing efforts and established customer base, the consignment program has averaged an above 90 percent sell-through rate for its clients.
